Abstract
Bringing quality management research into perspective is a dare need in education industry of most developing nations, including Nigeria. The focus of this study, therefore, was to investigate the role of total quality management (TQM) in enhancing the research output of higher education institutions (HEIs). Drawing insights from research-based faculty members of three reputable Universities in Nigeria and adopting the Hierarchical multiple regression analysis this present study established the relationship between components of TQM tools, values and methodologies on the research output of HEIs. The findings confirmed that a significant relationship between the multifaceted aspects of TQM tools, values and methodologies and HEIs research output. Implications that are relevant to theory and practice were also established in the study.
